LIV operates inside the Fontainebleau Miami Beach at 4441 Collins Avenue, founded in 2008 by David Grutman and operated by Groot Hospitality. The venue covers between 18,000 and 19,000 square feet across two levels with a rear mezzanine, enclosed under an 80-foot dome fitted with 870 individually controllable light fixtures. A $10 million renovation in 2016 added The Spider, a steel truss installation with 400 LED screens above the main dance floor. It runs Thursday through Sunday from 11PM to 5AM, with capacity for up to 1,100 guests. By 2012 it ranked among the five highest-grossing nightclubs in the United States, a position it has maintained consistently since.
The programming rotates across four distinct nightly formats. Thursdays run Mentirosa, a reggaeton and Latin set. Fridays and Saturdays bring house and electronic programming with a booking history that includes John Summit, Adriatique, James Hype, Lost Frequencies, and Sidepiece. Sundays host LIV on Sunday, a hip-hop night regarded by The Miami Herald as a cultural institution of the genre, with performances by artists including Lil Wayne, Big Sean, and a dedicated hall of fame launched in 2024. The mezzanine converts to a full stage for live performances by removing its railing.
Entry requires valid ID and is restricted to guests 21 and over. Dress code is upscale and enforced at the door. Table service runs across 50 banquette areas and six private skyboxes on the upper level, each with dedicated staff. Four full-service bars operate simultaneously on the main floor. The venue closes occasionally for private events and special productions, which are announced in advance on the events calendar.
