Lula operates at Km 8.1 of Tulum's Hotel Zone as part of Lula Seaside Boutique Hotel, under Colibri Boutique Hotels, the same group behind La Zebra next door. The property was formerly known as Sanará Tulum and underwent a full rebrand in 2023, reimagining the design, culinary concept, music, and programming from the ground up. The beach club is open to non-hotel guests with no minimum spend and free parking, positioning it as one of the more accessible beachfront options in the Hotel Zone. The kitchen runs a Baja Med menu by Chef Eleazar Bonilla, with cocktails developed by mixologist Jasper Soffer. The venue received a Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice nomination in 2024.
The aesthetic is deliberately different from neighboring venues, with sunshine-yellow cushions, turquoise accents, retro tilework, vintage vinyl on record players, and a design that references mid-century Mediterranean aesthetics within a Tulum beachfront setting. The atmosphere is calm and colorful, without the high-volume programming of the more party-oriented clubs nearby. The beach is white sand, rock-free, and well maintained. A beachfront yoga shala, outdoor pool, hammocks, and a spa operate alongside the beach club, making the full-day experience oriented as much around wellness as it is around food and beach access.
The Baja Med menu covers breakfast through dinner with a consistent focus on fresh, local ingredients. Breakfast includes sweet potato pancakes, cacao smoothie bowls, and chia parfaits. Lunch and dinner center on fresh pasta with clams and shrimp, artisan pizzas, whole grilled fish with regional herbs, shrimp tacos, Buddha bowls, and green gazpacho. The cocktail program by Jasper Soffer runs tropical mezcalitas, herb-infused spritzes, and custom preparations. The bar also covers wellness shots, smoothies, and health elixirs throughout the day. Music runs as a continuous chillout and lounge ambient backdrop without reaching the volume levels of adjacent venues.
