Tora operates in Tulum's Hotel Zone under Grupo Rosa Negra, positioned adjacent to Rosa Negra on Carretera Boca Paila. The kitchen runs a contemporary Japanese format in Izakaya style, where dishes are designed for sharing and served without a fixed order. The robata grill, built from natural parota wood and fueled by Binchotan charcoal, is the operational center of the kitchen, delivering a subtle smokiness to fish, seafood, and premium cuts. The menu includes sushi, sashimi, maki, nigiri, omakase, and certified Wagyu and Kobe beef imported from Japan. A resident DJ runs nightly, with sparkler shows building through the evening.
The space is open-air with bamboo and wicker ceilings, warm ambient lighting, and handcrafted lamps throughout. The design follows Japanese minimalist principles adapted to Tulum's boho-chic aesthetic, with natural materials integrated into every detail, including handmade tableware with variable surfaces and rough textures consistent with Japanese craft tradition. The format shifts from a composed dining setting in the early evening to a more energized atmosphere as the night progresses and the entertainment program intensifies.
The menu covers the full range of Japanese preparations: sushi bar with Ora King salmon, Bluefin tuna, and specialty rolls, robata-grilled proteins, hot and cold sharing plates, dumplings, ramen, and tempura. The Wagyu and Kobe sections offer certified Japanese beef in multiple preparations. The sake and Japanese whisky program is developed alongside craft cocktails with hand-carved Banshaku ice spheres.
