Gitano Jungle has been operating in Tulum's Hotel Zone since 2013, established as an open-air restaurant and mezcal bar set within the jungle on Carretera Boca Paila. The kitchen runs a modern Mexican menu developed around a wood-burning oven and open grill, using seasonal local ingredients. The bar specializes in mezcal, with over 40 selections from Oaxaca alongside a cocktail program built on house-made juices and syrups. Every Friday, the venue runs Jungle Fiesta, Tulum's longest-running dinner and dancing party, with DJ sets beginning around 11 PM under the jungle canopy.
The space is fully open-air, designed around the jungle environment with warm lighting, natural materials, and a signature disco ball as a central visual element. The Jungle Room, with colonial-inspired design, serves as the main dining area. The atmosphere is composed during dinner service and shifts significantly on Friday nights when the Gypsy Disco format takes over. The venue accommodates couples, groups, and larger celebrations with private room options available.
The menu centers on modern Mexican cooking, with ceviches, tacos, wood-fired meats, and fresh seafood as recurring highlights. Vegetarian and vegan options run throughout. The mezcal program is the most developed bar offering in the venue, with over 40 expressions from Oaxaca paired with a full tropical cocktail list. Gluten-free options are available.
