Mezzanine has been operating in Tulum since 2004, established as one of the few authentic Thai restaurants in the region. The kitchen is led by Executive Chef Liliana López alongside Thai cuisine consultant Dim Geefay and resident Thai Chef Jakkree Putaruk, whose recipes draw from traditional techniques developed in Bangkok and the southern provinces of Thailand. The restaurant sits on an oceanfront terrace within the natural reserve area of Tulum, with unobstructed views across the Caribbean. All dishes are prepared without MSG or refined sugar, using fresh locally pressed coconut milk and piloncillo as natural sweetener.
The terrace faces the sea directly, with bistro lighting, open-air seating, and chill house music running through every service. The setting is consistently described as one of the most scenic dining spots in Tulum, particularly effective at sunset. The atmosphere is relaxed and romantic without being formal. A daily happy hour runs from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM with 2x1 cocktails. The restaurant also runs a casual beach menu alongside the main Thai program for guests who prefer lighter or Mexican-style options.
The Thai menu covers traditional preparations including pad thai, tom kha, green and red curries, and fresh rolls. Signature dishes include cashew shrimp and the money bag appetizer. A separate beach menu runs ceviches, tacos, guacamole, and lighter coastal options. Vegan and vegetarian options are clearly identified across both menus. The cocktail program includes fresh juice combinations alongside classic cocktails and mezcal-based options. Service is attentive and unhurried.
