Shanghai Me opened in 2019 at Gate Village Building 11 in the DIFC, created by Chef Izu Ani and restaurateur Evgeny Kuzin of Fundamental Hospitality, the same group behind GAIA and Carine. The restaurant celebrates the culinary traditions of East Asia, blending Chinese cooking styles across Cantonese, Sichuan, Shanghainese, and Beijing formats with Japanese technique under the direction of Executive Chef Yukitaka Kitade, who trained in Japan and the UK before joining Shanghai Me in 2020. The Dubai flagship holds recognition in the Michelin Guide Dubai 2025 and has since expanded to Doha and London's Mayfair. Bund, a secretive private club behind an unassuming mirrored door within the same space, operates Thursday through Saturday from midnight as a late-night extension with handcrafted cocktails and curated DJ sets.

The interior was designed by renowned architect Michele Bonan and references the Art Deco glamour of 1930s Shanghai. A bamboo and banana tree-filled terrace evokes the green jungles of Asia, while the indoor lounge pays tribute to the prohibited parties of the golden age. The design layers create distinct environments within the same venue, from the composed dining room to the intimate private dining table and the lush outdoor terrace. The overall atmosphere is described consistently as chic but comfortable, suited to both business dinners and social gatherings. Bund operates as a hidden extension for guests wishing to extend the evening, maintaining exclusivity through its concealed entrance and limited access.

The menu covers the full spectrum of pan-Asian cuisine. The Dim Sum Library offers a rotating selection of handcrafted pieces. The main à la carte covers dim sum, sushi, Peking duck station, wok-fired preparations, and a broad selection of sharing dishes that draw from Chinese regional traditions and Japanese technique. A business lunch menu runs for midday service. Cocktails are inspired by the twelve signs of the Chinese Zodiac, each telling its own story within the drinks program. The wine list covers international labels. Tableside service and interactive elements are integrated throughout the dining format.
