Miami Beach Clubs in Winter: Where to Book a Daybed from November to March

Winter is high season in Miami. From November to March the days are dry and warm, the beach clubs run their full programs, and the calendar fills with Art Basel in early December, New Year's Eve and Miami Music Week in March. It is the best time of year to spend a day on the sand, and also the time when the best daybeds go first.

Why is winter the best season for Miami beach clubs?

Summer in Miami is hot and humid, with storms most afternoons. From November the weather settles into the dry season, with sunny days warm enough for the pool and evenings that are comfortable outdoors. That is why the clubs on South Beach and Mid-Beach have their strongest months between Thanksgiving and spring, and why the weekends around the big events book out well before the date.

Which beach clubs are worth booking on South Beach?

Nikki Beach has been on South of Fifth since 1998, with DJs every day, international dining and a Sunday brunch on the sand. At The Ritz-Carlton South Beach, Dilido Beach Bar serves a Mediterranean menu by José Andrés Group with direct beach access, and 1 Beach Club at 1 Hotel South Beach offers a calmer, natural setting with Mediterranean food and craft cocktails. On Ocean Drive, The Savoy Beach Club adds two oceanfront pools and Japanese dining.

For a full resort day, Eden Roc Miami Beach in Mid-Beach has three pools, a private beach and cabana service with public day access, and Surfcomber on Collins Avenue is open to the public daily with DJ sets on weekends. If the plan is a party, Cleveland South Beach on Ocean Drive runs pool parties with DJs from Friday to Sunday.

Where can you trade the ocean for a bay view?

Not every beach club in Miami faces the Atlantic. Joia Beach on Watson Island pairs waterfront dining and DJs with views across Biscayne Bay from day into night, and Baia Club at Mondrian South Beach is a Mediterranean pool and dining club looking over the bay to the skyline. Both suit a later start and a long afternoon that turns into dinner.

What about the members-only clubs?

Some of the most private addresses run on membership. Fisher Island Club sits on a private island reached by ferry or private yacht, SohoHouse in Mid-Beach has two pools, a private beach and Cecconi's on site, and Shelbourne, Bentley Beach Club and The Miami Beach Edition also have their own membership rules. Access depends on each club's policy, so these are worth asking about well before the day.

How do you book a daybed or a cabana?

Most clubs offer a mix of loungers, daybeds and cabanas, and the larger setups often work with a minimum spend on food and drinks rather than a fixed price. When you ask, give the date, the number of guests, the arrival time and whether you plan to stay through lunch or into the evening. Front row positions by the water and shaded cabanas go first, especially on Saturdays.

How far ahead should you book?

  • Art Basel Miami Beach, December 4 to 6, 2026: three to four weeks ahead, more for cabanas.
  • Christmas to New Year's: as soon as the dates are fixed, ideally by mid November.
  • Miami Music Week in March: two to three weeks ahead for weekend days.
  • Regular winter weekends: about a week ahead.
  • Weekdays outside the big events: a few days is usually enough.

Where can you have lunch or dinner by the water?

A beach day in Miami often ends at a table with a view. Smith & Wollensky at South Pointe Park serves dry-aged steaks and seafood with ocean views across two floors, and in Surfside, Thomas Keller's Michelin-starred The Surf Club Restaurant is open nightly for dinner. At Faena, Los Fuegos by Francis Mallmann cooks over live fire for lunch and dinner every day.

Across the bay, Il Gabbiano looks over Biscayne Bay with handmade pasta, while Zuma and Cipriani Downtown Miami sit on the Miami River. Zuma's weekend brunch is a good plan for a Sunday when the beach clubs are at their busiest.

What should you confirm before you go?

Ask what the booking includes, how the minimum spend is charged and until what time the daybed is yours. On event weekends traffic along Collins Avenue and Ocean Drive slows down, so private transportation with a driver waiting makes the return easier. And keep the evening in mind: a day that starts at noon on the sand can roll into a dinner reservation or a table at night.
