New Year's Eve in Miami: Dinners, Clubs, Yachts and Fireworks

New Year's Eve in Miami has two parts: midnight over the water, and the long night that follows, when restaurants and clubs have their busiest evening of the year. Planning it well comes down to a few early decisions: where you will be at midnight, whether at a table, on a yacht or on the sand, and how you will move once the streets around the bay begin to close.

Where are the New Year's Eve fireworks in Miami?

In recent years there have been two main public shows. Downtown, Bayfront Park hosts a free concert that ends with fireworks over Biscayne Bay at midnight, along with the Big Orange, a giant illuminated orange that climbs the side of the InterContinental hotel as the year turns. In Miami Beach, the city and the Ocean Drive Association have launched fireworks from the Lummus Park beachfront at 11:59 p.m., with Ocean Drive closed to cars and its restaurants serving outdoors. Both events are confirmed by their organizers each December, and the details for 2026 have not been announced yet.

Where can you watch them from a table?

Downtown, Il Gabbiano sits on Biscayne Bay itself, a short walk from Bayfront Park. Along the Miami River, Zuma and Cipriani Downtown keep you close to the bay for midnight. In Miami Beach, Smith & Wollensky looks over the water from South Pointe Park. No restaurant can promise a view of the fireworks, so it is worth asking exactly which tables face the right way before confirming.

Can you watch the fireworks from a yacht?

Yes, and for many groups it is the best seat in the city. The usual plan is to board in the evening, have dinner on board or before, and anchor on Biscayne Bay in time for midnight, with the downtown skyline in front. In past years the downtown fireworks have been launched from a barge just off Bayfront Park, with a Coast Guard safety zone around it that boats cannot enter. Federal rules also set a regulated navigation area over much of the bay on New Year's Eve, with a 15 knot speed limit and every boat subject to Coast Guard instructions. The bay is crowded, so the captain's experience matters as much as the boat.

Private charters take up to 12 or 13 guests, with the captain included. The 57' Azimut Thales and the 88' Princess suit a dinner on board, while the 112' Custom Privilege gives a group more room on deck. A private chef can cook on board. On this night, charters usually carry a minimum number of hours and their own rates.

How does New Year's Eve dinner work in Miami?

On December 31 most restaurants replace the regular menu with a set dinner at a fixed price per person, often in two seatings, with the later one timed to midnight and a toast. Deposits or full prepayment are common, and cancellation terms are stricter than on any other night. For a late seating with a party around it, Amazonico, Komodo and Rosa Negra are built for the occasion. For a dinner where the food comes first, Cote, L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon and The Surf Club Restaurant are among the most requested tables.

Which clubs are best for New Year's Eve in Miami?

In Miami Beach, LIV at the Fontainebleau and Story in South Beach host the big headliners. Downtown, E11EVEN runs around the clock, and Club Space has in recent years turned the night into a marathon of more than a day, with sunrise on its terrace. On New Year's Eve, entry is usually by ticket, tables carry higher minimum spends than on any other night, lineups are often announced only in December, and most venues are 21 and over.

How do you get around on the night?

Expect closures around Bayfront Park and on Biscayne Boulevard during the downtown event, and Ocean Drive closed to cars for several days around the holiday. The causeways between Miami and the Beach slow down from the evening on, and taxis are scarce after midnight. The practical rule is to stay on one side of the bay for the whole night. A private driver with a pickup point agreed in advance, outside the closed streets, saves the longest wait of the night.

How far ahead should you book?

As early as possible. Tables with a view, yachts for the night and club tables go first, and the best are often taken before December. Hotels in South Beach and Brickell follow the same curve. If the trip is still taking shape, secure the midnight plan first and build dinner and the rest of the night around it. For New Year's Day, a slow lunch at Joia Beach on Watson Island or Nikki Beach is the classic way to start the year.
