Art Basel Miami Beach 2026 opens to the public from December 4 to 6 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, with preview days earlier that week. Around it, Miami Art Week fills the city with satellite fairs, gallery openings and private parties from the weekend before. For restaurants and nightclubs it is the most demanding week of the year: the same tables are requested by collectors, galleries, brands and visitors at once.
Why is Art Basel week so hard to book?
Demand arrives all at once and from people who plan late. Brands and galleries buy out rooms and venues for private events, which takes inventory off the market. Restaurants extend services and add set menus, nightclubs raise table minimums for headliner nights, and traffic between Miami Beach, Wynwood, the Design District and Brickell makes every move across the causeways longer. The reservations that hold are the ones made early and planned by area.
Where to book dinner near the fair
On Miami Beach, close to the Convention Center: Carbone on Collins Avenue, Casa Tua in its Mediterranean villa, Los Fuegos by Francis Mallmann at Faena, Papi Steak, Jeremy Ford's Michelin-starred Stubborn Seed, Mila on its rooftop, and Nobu Miami in Mid-Beach. A little further north, Thomas Keller's The Surf Club Restaurant in Surfside.
Where to book dinner in the Design District and Wynwood
The galleries and brand events of the week concentrate here. L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon, Florida's only two-Michelin-star restaurant, the Korean steakhouse Cote, Swan with its garden seating and Mandolin Aegean Bistro in a 1940s courtyard. Nearby in Buena Vista, the 24-seat Boia De is one of the hardest small tables in the city.
Where to book dinner in Brickell and Downtown
For larger groups and dinners that continue into the night: Zuma and Cipriani Downtown Miami on the river, Amazonico, Komodo, Sexy Fish, Gekko, LPM Restaurant & Bar and Bagatelle, several of them with DJ programming as the evening goes on.
How do VIP tables work at Miami nightclubs?
A VIP table is booked against a minimum spend for the night, set by the venue according to the table's position, the day and the artist. During Art Week those minimums are higher and the best tables go first. Clubs usually ask for a deposit, a confirmed party size and an arrival time, and they apply a dress code at the door.
On Miami Beach, LIV at the Fontainebleau and Story in South Beach carry the big headliner nights. Downtown, E11even runs around the clock and Club Space is known for its sunrise sets on The Terrace. In Wynwood, La Otra and MAD Club go until 5AM, and Sugar is the rooftop for drinks before dinner.
How far ahead should you book?
For Art Basel week, three to four weeks ahead for dinner at the most requested restaurants, earlier for private rooms and groups. Nightclub tables for headliner nights are best confirmed two to three weeks ahead. Late October and November is the right moment: by the week itself, what remains is usually the late seating and the back table.
Booking for a group or a private dinner
Groups of eight or more change the approach. Many restaurants only seat larger groups in a private room or at a set menu during Art Week, with a deposit and a guaranteed number of guests. Some will release a semi-private area for a full buyout of a service. For collectors, galleries and brands hosting a dinner, the venue, the menu, the guest list timing and the transport home all need to be agreed before the invitations go out, which in practice means starting several weeks earlier than a regular reservation.
It also helps to keep one evening open. Art Week invitations arrive late, and a flexible night with a confirmed fallback table is easier to manage than three fixed dinners and nothing in reserve.
Plan by area, not by list
The most common mistake is a schedule that crosses the city three times a night. Dinner and the night out work better in the same area, with a driver waiting rather than a ride requested at midnight. Pairing a Miami Beach dinner with LIV or Story, or a Brickell dinner with E11even or Club Space, saves the hour that traffic would take.
